Oregonians for Nebraska Board Meeting Minutes
Saturday, October 6th 4pm
The Refectory
1. Call to Order at 4:10pm. Present: Steve, Lisa, Beal, Chuck, Sandy, John, Monica. Chuck and Monica both accurately predict NU has NO chance (zero, zip, zilch) of winning today.
2. Approval of last meeting minutes: Good job Sandy.
3. Treasurer Report: (Chuck)
Current Balance: $ 3201.80
4. Committee Reports:
Watch Parties: (Beal)
• Husker Dan wrote a great write-up about the watch party he attended (http://www.huskerpedia.com/huskerdan/20071004dan.html)
• Chuck donated $50 to Husker Dan’s Army on behalf of the chapter
• We will investigate children’s apparel again
• Sound-checks before every game
• Letter of Understanding is being adhered to by The Refectory
• No internet access on computer in AV booth – not able to pipe the Huskervision pre-game on the screens
• 2 people needed to run the merchandise table through halftime
Community Service (Sandy)
• October 27th is food drive –can we do an email blast?
• 1 raffle ticket for any donation
• Toy Drive at K-State game on November 10th
Endowment (Lisa)
• $4,367.79 is needed for the Endowment
• 300-400 raffle tickets a week
• Steve and Lisa got more prices while they were in Lincoln to sustain great raffle turnout
Communication:
• Garrick needs to transfer the domain name to us, then email account will disappear and we will have to re-establish it. Garrick is working on it but has not yet gotten back to Steve.
• Steve will remind Garrick and once the info has been exchanged, Steve will pass it on to Scott (new volunteer for web)
• Steve is doing a great job on the emails about the watch parties
• Anytime you have an item for the emails, send it to Steve and he’ll add it
• Huskerspot.com would like to be added to our site
• Kevin Dieckhoff did a great job with the photos – we will publicize them and post them on our tri-fold
5. Special Events:
a. Christmas Party
• December 9th for Christmas Party at Amalfi’s
• Sandy is investigating the meal options
• Raffle and music were good touches last year
• Sandy proposed lowering the cost to ($15/adult) to increase attendance
• Flyers and signup sheets at games prior to the party to advertise
b. Halloween Party
• Determining whether or not there is a good time to do it – sounds like not this year
• Chuck suggested combining Halloween with the Texas game on 10/27
• Pumpkins could be messy
• Candy for kids – they can dress up, prize to best costume
• Chuck will buy the candy
• Ask Ed about using Fog Machine
• Beal will see if we can play a CD in the sound system for Halloween Music
6. Sporting Events:
• John has received inquiries about whether we’d be interested in buying a block of Blazer tickets for an event
• John will put out a “feeler” sheet to determine interest
7. Participatory Sports: (Steve)
• 2-3 for fall ball
8. New Business:• Lisa suggested following up with people who have indicated they want to volunteer on their new member form, and passing their names on to the appropriate committee member
• John received a letter that the previous chapter bylaws are reinstating, disregarding “the letter” we received last spring
• Chris Anderson of the NAA has been promoted to Director of Student/Alumni Relations. Pam Penner is now our point of contact.
• New t-shirts, new sweatshirts have arrived!– Steve will look into the kids clothing.
• Same prices for new sweatshirts
