Nebraska Members & Friends:
In 2003, OR4NE lost Cliff Berggren (UNL
1951), to bone cancer. Cliff was one of our original and most
active members, attending functions since before this alumni
chapter existed. In remembrance of Cliff, the OR4NE board voted
to name the annual OR4NE scholarship in Cliff’s memory.
Cliff’s estate donated $1,000.00 to the
OR4NE scholarship fund several years ago. The OR4NE board
decided to use this donation as seed money for an endowment
fund. Since that original donation, we have raised over $10,000.
This fund has already started providing an annual scholarship to
someone from Oregon or SW Washington to attend UNL, and will
continue to do so for years to come.
Adding to the fund will increase the
principal of the fund and as a result, increase the yearly
scholarship amount. OR4NE raises money to add to the fund in a
number of ways. We conduct raffles during watch parties, hold
silent auctions and accept cash donations. Your help in building
our scholarship fund is greatly appreciated. We hope you can
find a way to help. No contribution is too small.
