...OR4NE Thanks You... Oregonians For Nebraska would like to thank our members for a successful 2008. It was a year full of great activities and wonderful memories. Activities over the past year ranged from sorting food for the Oregon Food Bank, to softball games, to Football watch parties, to a fun filled Christmas party and an exciting migration to a Husker Basketball game. OR4NE reached a major milestone this year by hitting our goal of $10,000 for the Oregonians for Nebraska-Clifford G. Berggren Scholarship Fund. Attaining this goal allows us to award a yearly scholarship to a deserving individual from Oregon or Southwest Washington to attend the University of Nebraska. As we add to the fund in the future, we will be able to increase the yearly scholarship. Thanks to those who contributed specifically to this Scholarship fund and also those who contributed by buying raffle tickets. Special thanks goes to our Volunteers of the Year...Angel, Roger and Katelynn Parmeter. Some examples of their contributions include maintaining the OR4NE web site, organizing and printing directories and news letters, ordering t-shirts with the new logos and making all the arrangements for the Basketball trip! W e set records for watch party attendance this year with well over 200 people on numerous occasions, including over 450 for the first game. Our plan is to make 2009 even better.Watch for upcoming activities this spring and summer as we plan to have an OR4NE night at a Portland Winter Hawks game, spring and summer softball sign up is just around the corner and our participation in the Letter Carriers Food drive is scheduled for May. to Corvallis and cheered on the Huskers in the tightest game and the
tightest ride you could ever imagine.
...November Food and Toy Drive
THANK YOU... On behalf of the
entire Board, I would like to thank all the Children of the
Corn who gave so generously at our food drive and toy drive
in November. We collected nearly 2000 pounds of food, and
delivered it to the Society of St. Vincent DePaul. The toys
were delivered to the KGW Northwest News Channel 8 Great Toy
Drive. Once again I am reminded why Nebraska has the
greatest fans in all of college football. We don't just
say... we live it!

Annual Chapter Summer Picnic Bugeaters Sports Alumni Night at the Portland Beavers
Letter Carrier's Food Drive !
On behalf of the Board, I would
like to thank the many volunteers who worked so hard at the Letter
Carriers food drive on May 10th. We collected, sorted and packed
14,830 pounds of food for the Oregon Food Bank--about 3% more than
in 2007. Also, a special thank you to the the Clackamas/Gladstone
post office for helping to make the event a great success.
OR4NE's involvement in
community service events is an important part of who we are as a
Nebraska Alumni Association chapter. I hope I can count on your
continued support and generosity at future events.
